Awards on Easter/Ostara and More Bad Poetry

So, I've not really been hoarding these... I've been procrastinating. I've been in 'writer mode' for a couple of weeks with my new WIP and can barely get to all my bloggity blog blog friends, and keeping in touch with everyone is my priority, so awards wait until the weekend now.

Without further ado: The Prolific Blogger Award given to me by Nicole Ducleroir at http://nicoleducleroir.blogspot.com/

I was pretty stoked to get this one. Everytime I'd see it go up at a friend's page and not get it, I'd stick out the ol' pouty lip and wibble a bit. The artist in me loves the acid green and purple and thought it'd look beautimous on my black blog :-)

With that in mind, I'm giving it to a new friend and black blogger, Roland at http://rolandyeomans.blogspot.com/

And Lisa at http://paranormalpointofview.blogspot.com/
who also has a perdy black blog. Of course, there was more of a requirement than just having a black blog. Both of these people are pretty rockin' and you should go check them out.

Now we come to my new place for great fiction, Amy at http://shewritesherenow.blogspot.com/
Seriously good stuff, folks. Go check her out.

Tahereh at http://stiryourtea.blogspot.com/
gave me the Sunshine Award, which I already had, so I added her name on my sidebar. I also did this with Wendy from http://quillfeather-blog.blogspot.com/
who gave me the 'From Me to You'
and Anne at http://piedmontwriter.blogspot.com/
who gave me the Honest Scrap Award.

Speaking of Anne, she ALSO gave me (because she loves me more than she loves any of you people) the Awesomesauce Award, which means that if I were to be put into a giant blender, the squishy and somewhat runny result would be Awesomesauce for your eating enjoyment. *DISCLAIMER - NOT YET LEGAL IN THE U.S.A.

Last, but certainly not least, Terry at http://awriterofwrongs.blogspot.com/
has returned to me my Soulmate Award. It's come full circle, and I've watched it wither and die on people's pages and passed on incorrectly and linked incorrectly or not at all... and I giggled. I don't mind at all. I just wanted to give some people a smile (which I think the award did) and as a social experiment, I think it went all right. No, I'm not going to tell you the results.

And now that the award ceremony is coming to a close, I think we should end it with poetry again. Happy Easter y'all! And Ostara for you special, special ones! (which I know was a couple weeks ago, but I procrastinate as I mentioned)

Wrote this a while back:

I never wanted love to find me
But the predator it is
Tracked me down
Knocked me down
Stole my breath away
Sunk its teeth into my heart
And continues to suck my soul dry

I do nothing to stop it
Maybe even welcome this small death

This cancerous love is killing me
It steals my sleep
My appetite
My reason
Brings me nothing but pain
You’ll be the death of me
And I don’t care
I think I should hate you a little bit

My strength is reserved for you alone
I give it out as freely
As I do my heart
I need neither without you
Free will relinquished with a smile
And a thousand tears

Stop calling
I have to answer

Congrats for all your awards! You wear them well. :)

And I thought you were going to include some bad poetry? That most certainly wasn't it!

Aubrie said...

That poem is not bad at all. I loved it. It's so true, too! Congrats on your awards :) Hopefully the Soulmate one will keep working its way throught the blogosphere for eternity, spreading love. :)

That was good. Really good. Every single line here most women have known. And the final line--perfect!

THANK you for the award! I am loving your place and am truly flattered you passed it to me.

Also, you have the coolest avatar/profile pict. I wonder if your photographer friend, WZ, did it for you?

Christi Goddard said...

DL - Thanks for the compliment. I'm never as happy with my poetry as I am my prose. In fact, I'm terribly insecure about it.

Aubrie - I hope Soulmates continues to fly about. It makes people smile.

Amy - Nope. I made my profile pic. It's actually a lot bigger. I took a picture of myself and photomanip'd the crap out of it. I get artsy when I'm not writing.

You're welcome for the award. I love your writing SOOOOO much.

I thought that was a great poem and of course I could relate. But who can't relate to something like that?

Congrats on all your awards! It's wonderful when our lives are so full we barely have time for things.

Congrats on all the awards, Christi! Awesome indeed :)

Love the poem - I have MC who's feeling kinda like that at the moment :)

Where do I give my acceptance speech?? Seriously though, THANK YOU! What a cool honor! And you are so right - it is going to look amazing on my black background. I do love that black background! I'll probably post it next week sometime and I'll be sure to link back here. :)

Love the poem. Brilliant.

Congrats on all the awards! And congrats to those who've received them.

I like that poem! And congrats on your awards. Have a good day!

That's the way with love : we cannot but answer its call. Enjoy it while it does. What did Thomas Mann write? "Which of us is not forever a stranger and alone?"

Answer : Those who love.

Thanks for the award. It is mucho appreciated. We educated, part-Lakota can use words like "mucho." Not well as you can see, but hey, who is perfect? Well, there was that one, but we crucified him.

Have a growing, healing new month. Thanks for being my new friend, Roland

The acid black and green DOES look beautimous up here. Congratulations on everything.

Um, I wasn't one of the ones who passed on the SM award incorrectly, was I?

The half-caustic, half-happy tone of the ol' poem up there is rather vivifying as well. Strange juxtaposition, but it works. Love is a predator like that sometimes. I found a great deal of truth in that poem, and I guess that's what poetry's supposed to be about. Nice work.

Congrats on the awards, and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Congrats, oh so popular one!

That poem is my favourite of yours - so far :)

G - My life is full of procrastination with random inserts of writing.

Jemi, Lisa, Talli, Donna, Wendy, Lass, and Donna: Thanks a bunch. I'm glad you guys liked my poem. I'm always afraid people will read my poetry and roll their eyes.

Andrew the Postman: You passed on SM just fine. Poetry is about truth? Whoops...

Roland: You're an odd duck. I love that about you.

Hannah said...

You want to hear some bad poetry? I'll give you the entire writings of my teenage years. That was NOT bad...not even a little.

Congratulations on your awards!!

Roland D. Yeomans said...

Odd Duck, here. Thanks for commenting on my post. I often feel like a dog who can see colors, while all the others see only gray. Look at the sunset! Can't you see the beauty of it? The answer, of course, is no.

Anne Gallagher said...

Of course I love you more than anybody else. And you would definately be illegal in the US as well as Europe and all those Russian countries that arent' Russian anymore.

LOVE that poetry. You're one bad ass poetess.

Hey Awesomesauce, wassup?
CONGRATS on all the shiny awards! Well deserved, since you're made of awesome.

I enjoyed your poem. It felt honest and real.

Happy Easter,
Lola

Powerful poem and thanks for the blog suggestions.

Christi Goddard said...

Palindrome - I'm trying to supress the memory of my teenage poetry years. :-)

Roland - you have a way of being a cynical Gandhi that is mesmerizing. Like a train wreck. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Anne - Now I know you're just tossing daisies up my butt.

Lola and Copyboy - Thanks a gazillion ladybugs and a cuppa joe.

(look how high I sound! I'm actually just in an extremely good mood)

I love the colors of the Prolific Blogger award too! And, it looks smashing on your blog against the black background :)

Congrats on all your awards and have a wonderful week!

Christi Goddard said...

Thanks, Nicole!

Tara said...

Congrats on the awards. This place is awesomesauce!

The poem? Awesomesaucier.

Shrinky said...

Ah, you'd be legal in Europe, I am sure you would! We could always use fresh, delicious poetry, such as yours..

Christi Goddard said...

Thanks, Tara.

Shrinky - the world shrinks! people in Europe can have my poetry on the internet! (five dollar cover fee)

Lisa Gail Green said...

Hey just a reminder to check my blog today. He he he.

Tana said...

Congrats on the super cool awards! That poem sounds like my MC could have wrote it! She's living it. Awesome!

Roland D. Yeomans said...

So I'm mesmerizing. Like a train wreck. Wow. Hard to know how to take that positively. Well. like Sam McCord might say, "Son, when they start comparing you to a train wreck, you might want to pull out of the station."

Have a great week, Roland

Christine Danek said...

Congrats on the awards! Awsomesauce award is awesome.
I love your poem. It is beautiful and just up my alley. Nice work!

Elana Johnson said...

You're the only person who makes me like poetry.

Congrats on your awards.

Christi Goddard said...

Christine - I agree. Awesomesauce da bomb.

Elana - that's one heck of a compliment. Thank you.

Roland D. Yeomans said...

Never restrain yourself on my account. You should hear my best friend, Sandra, talk to me. I was just puzzled what to make of your statements. I truly didn't know if they were positive or negative. Train wrecks are usually not a good thing. Unless an enemy is on board. Roland

I love seeing you receive awards as it does my little stalker heart good. :)

LARCHMONT said...

Congrats on the awards! And there's nothing wrong with procrastination, IMHO--in fact, I think it's essential for us creative types. And I loved the rawness of your poem. Thanks for sharing it!

Christi Goddard said...

Roland - I think amnesia would be appropriate here.

Penname Pauline - You're so silly.

Samuel - Procrastination is my greatest friend and my worst enemy. Like chocolate.

Slamdunk said...

Congrats on your blogger hardware. I try to let them collect as well so I can morph the awards into one post.

Jody Hedlund said...

Congrats on all the awards! I'm very pleased to meet you!

Roland D. Yeomans said...

Thanks for the kind comment on my post. To dare to love is to chance the pain of its leaving. Amnesia duly applied. May your muse be generous this week, Roland

Mia Hayson said...

"Stop calling
I have to answer"

I'll be honest, those six lines have never been quite so meaningful to me before now. Anyway, I won't ramble because YOU KNOW I think your poetry is totally the bomb. It's a fact.

Yay for the awards! The prolific one really does go well with the whole interior design of the blog, so it's great you have it!

Christi Goddard said...

Thanks, Slamdunk.

Jody - Nice to meet you, too.

Roland - My muse is a fickle mistress.

Mia - Yes, I'm aware how easy you are to impress ;-)

Shannon O'Donnell said...

Congrats on the awards, Christi! And that poem is spectacular!!! :-)

Christi Goddard said...

Thankya, Shannon. I'll admit, I know you're a children's book author, so I always have the impulse to say 'cover your eyes! my stuff is naughty!'
