Getting to Know You...

Or me, in this case. I tend to babble on and on about things when talking about different facets of my life, so I decided it'd best be served for time constraints on readers hopping around on blogs to do it in PICTURES! They're worth a thousand words, right? So, I'm posting several thousand words today.

In no particular order of importance:

Aside from Pink Floyd, these are two of my most favorite bands. What can I say? I like my men confused, and boy do they look it.

Then there's the infamous cat, Snape.

My living room:

My workspace:

Evidence of my ultimate fangirliness (this is Severus Snape, for those unaware):

To top it off, a horrifying truth about motherhood.
P.S. The gobs of eye shadow are because it was Halloween.

Ha! Those men do look confused! And you have a lovely living room. :) You are still pretty after kids, you just look like you don't take crap anymore. I need that look. :)

Emily White said...

Haha! I love the pictures. That's a really cool tattoo. And there's nothing wrong with fangirliness. My tattoo around my ankle is the inscription around the ring in LOTR.

And, by the way, I love the red on black hair. Very cool.

I love this post!! I loved learning about you!
And, I'm totally getting that tattoo of the saying I mentioned. Tomorrow!!!!

And..I think you're still cute - even after children!

Anne Gallagher said...

Great pics. Now I know why we're friends, you totally look like my cousin Liz. And we used to have a cat named Suzy who looked just like Snape.

Shelley Sly said...

Dude, I love your hair! And I am just as cluttered as you are, and that's just the way my life is. I don't even really try to un-clutter (well, I say I'll clean, but I end up just moving a pile of stuff from one place to another.) Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing.

Matthew MacNish said...

Is the guy on the right trying to look like Kurt Cobain?

That looks just like our cat Frisky (he's a dick to all our other cats).

We have those same pillows on our couch!

Heath Ledger rules, especially as the Joker.

Jon Paul said...

Clutter is an addiction for me too. Drives my wife crazy!

Thanks for sharing your several thousand words! Have a great weekend!

Christi Goddard said...

Aubrie - I'm paid to take crap from doctor offices all day at work, but I don't take it from co-workers, friends, or family I guess. There's pretty much at least seven Christis trapped in one body, and depending on how you approach me, it dictates which one speaks to you.

Emily - HA! I totally wanted to do that, too. But it'd clash with the Potterverse planned for my body. I've still got Lucius Malfoy and Remus Lupin to go. (I've been chickening out and too poor, besides)

Justine - Just be sure the words are pointed the right way ;-)

Anne - We're friends for a zillion reasons, but you're right. The main reason is my ability to sneak into your family and look like I belong there. I'm crafty like that.

Shelley - I get all discombobulated when things are organized, at least my things. I considered posting a picture of my desk at home, but decided against it. It's probably fairly horrifying to some. I'd need to post some sort of OCD warning at the top.

Matthew - Shaun Morgan does idolize Kurt Cobain, true, and at concerts does an occasional cover of Nirvana or Pearl Jam. I got my pillows at Wal-MastersoftheUniverse. As for Heath, I've been a fan since the television show Roar. It was awesome watching his star rise, and I grieved for days when he died. He was a genuine person, beloved by all who knew him.

Christi Goddard said...

John - whoops! we were posting at the same time. Clutter is an amazing thing that people just don't appreciate properly. You have a good weekend, too.

Haha! Those guys do look confused! That "naughty" hat in the picture of what may or may not have been a Heath Ledger shrine was just awesome. :)

Summer Frey said...

I love your cubicle! (?) I assume it was your cubicle, considering there was a random woman on the other side of the half-wall. I like controlled clutter...

Snape is so cute. I used to have a sweet black cat named Bagheera (Baggy).

Thanks for sharing your words. Sometimes I feel like I overdo the pics on my blog, but I love seeing other people's.

Shannon O'Donnell said...

What a great idea! I love the pictures as a way of getting to know you better. The last one is my favorite - too funny! :-)

Mel Chesley said...

I love Seether, never heard of Blue October I will have to check them out.
And I would have a shrine to Heath Ledger too. XD I loved him in Dark Knight.
And yes, I feel the same way about the before and after children pics. :D See what children do to us? lol
Thanks for the post!

Terry Towery said...

Ha. My mess of a writing mess is probably far worse than yours. Granted, I am a bit of a neat freak everywhere else, but my writing space is MY writing space, damn it!

Oh, and you know I love Snape. He totally rocks.

Your hair reminds me of mine back in the day. I dated a hair dresser many moons ago and *always* had some cool color streak in my hair. It drove my city editor nuts. Once I went to work with my hoop earring in and a purple rat tail (this was about 1984 or so) and he SENT ME HOME. Like I was a little kid! Ah, the good old days. ;)

Glad to see you're feeling better.

DL Hammons said...

Pink Floyd is one of my all-time favorites as well!! My movie collection is bordering on the fanatical....but you got me with the clutter. No. Can. Do. :)

Christi Goddard said...

Kimberly - Yes, it's one of my favorite Christmas decorations.

Summer - the picture is about a year old, really. My desk has way more toys on it now. I have wind up toys that I play with while 'working.'

Shannon - It just feels so true. My daughter's friend just told me a few minutes ago she was afraid to come into my office to use the full length mirror because I scare her. I told her I didn't get scary until I had kids.

Lass - Blue October is a Texas-based band, but they've gone global of late, which is good for them. Not me. I prefer them closer to home so I can see them more. I've tickets to an April 30th show. They're awesome.

Terry - I cannot begin to express how amused I am at the idea of you sporting a hoop earring and a purple rat tail.

DL - Pink Floyd Forever, man! It's my dad's fault, but I don't hold it against him. Floyd always makes me feel better. (can't say Pink anymore or people think you mean that girl pop singer).

Hi there, I saw your link and took a chance. I like what I've read so far and if you don't mind, I think I'll tag along.
thanks...

Lola Sharp said...

I am a big Blue October fan. I worry about Justin. You're lucky you live in their home state, because they play a lot there. I know Justin has a lot of stress, and touring is very stressful, so I'm glad they cancelled last year and are keeping it close to home this year. But I hope they will do a real east coast tour again someday. But, better he stay mentally healthy.

Anyway, I enjoyed your pictures into your world, and I hope you are having a happy Friday. (I left you a little love on my blog today)

Happy Weekend,
Lola

Christi Goddard said...

Patrick - Welcome aboard. We warned, I curse like a sailor.

Lola - Yeah, I worry for Justin a lot. They've taken a couple months off so I hope he's been able to pull himself together some. Personally, I think he was happier playing to the smaller crowds at home.

I love this post :) Your Snape looks like my Luna! Who is, of course, named after Luna Lovegood. Your tattoo awesome.

Christi Goddard said...

Luna is an excellent name for a cat. Thanks, Steph :-)

Roland D. Yeomans said...

WITHIN TEMPTATION happens to be one of my favorite bands. Their "The Secret Beneath The Rose" is one of the music videos I posted.

Thank you for the pictures of yourself and your rooms, cubical, and cat. Gypsy claims all pictures of her are copyright protected due to her being royalty and all.

The daughter-in-law of my best friend looks just like the woman admiring the faeries in the picture on your wall.

Have a healing weekend, Roland

Alleged Author said...

I absolutely love that tattoo!

Christi Goddard said...

Roland - yes, I watched the Batman video you had up. I adore that movie, obviously.

Penname Pauline - thanks. I'm kinda partial to it myself.

Roland D. Yeomans said...

Hi, Christi, actually all I've written so far on CAPTAIN OUTRAGEOUS is what you see. Being a blood courier with a co-worker out on maternity leave has left me with fumes instead of time to write as I would ordinarily.

I would be very pleased to have you be a beta on this for me. Starting at the beginning, you might be able to point me in the right direction and spare me a lot of re-writes.

Viktor speaks mature I know, but life on the street has aged him.

When I was six {thankfully a mature six}, my father, in an act of revenge for my mother divorcing him due to his untreated alcoholism, tricked my babysitter and picked me up. He then deposited me on the worst street in inner Detroit and left me. I can remember running after his car, calling out, "Daddy! Daddy!"

I spent 10 nightmare days on the streets. A street person, Maudie, took me under her wing that first day. She and her little dog, Tufts, saved my sanity. Hers was a bit addled, dreadfully paranoid of uniforms. It took days of internal struggling for her to heroically overcome her delusions and take me to the Salvation Army center.

I'm not singing the blues. All of us have gone through our own personal Gethsamane. But I was never the same after that. I became a loner, an independent thinker, and a scrapper if pushed, even by much bigger bullies. A lot of Viktor is me his age. I learned to muzzle the mouth, to learn diplomacy, and to see life through the eyes of others. Like I plan Viktor to in the course of the novel.

Whew! Sorry about going on like that. Thanks for the offer of being my beta for me on this. Have a healing weekend, Roland

Christi Goddard said...

Roland -that's the craziest story ever. I know this is way after the fact, but I don't understand why Maudie didn't take you to the police as an abandoned child. It's the first thing I would have done, at any rate.

"But I was never the same after that. I became a loner, an independent thinker, and a scrapper if pushed, even by much bigger bullies."

I am much the same now for my own reasons.

YAY! :~D Blue October, Pink Floyd and Seether all rock! You can go on my-froods-who-totally-know-their-music list now (you know, the one I keep in my head) I hearby grant you unlimited access *hands over golden ticket* This is your gold membership card :~)

I LOVE the tat. As somebody eying up tattoos I must ask. Does it hurt really a lot? I'm such a wimp I need to be warned... I have a mathmatician friend with a pie on her foot to represent her love of Pi... Personally, I want a dinosaur. Yes, as I made up lies for that Creative Writer Award thing I began to desperately wish it was true. :P

You're workspace isn't cluttered! It's artistically arranged, much like my room...

Christi Goddard said...

Mia - Getting a tattoo is different for everyone. Some it doesn't bother, others quit halfway through and never finish. I didn't scream or cry or act childish (or more childish than I already am naturally), but it did hurt a lot. I just grit my teeth. Mine took four hours, though. It also depends on the part of the body. I know a lot of people with foot tattoos so maybe it's not as tender there, I don't know.

Great post. I love lurking around other peoples living rooms and work spaces... must be the voyeur in me :)

oooh, that is a sweet tat!! It makes me want to finally get one!

And yes, I will not be breeding...ever.

I love it! Thanks for letting us get a better glimpse into your personality. Your tattoo is awesome and so is your cat. ;o) I heart Snape.

Lisa Gail Green said...

Love the pics. I'm too chicken to get a tattoo, but man, if I did, Snape would be right up there on my top ten list.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the photographic evidence of my insanity :-)
