I've been at it forever, and I just finished my samarai slashing of my manuscript. It was over 150,000 words, but I tossed a subplot. That took it down to 127,306. I'm happy to report that I've slashed it another 11,624 words. It's urban fantasy so it's longer than average. But ALL the foam is gone and the only thing to go now would be entire scenes if an agent wants it smaller.
My eyes are killing me. 'Night, y'all.

Good job slashing that MS. I'd think the length should be fine for urban fantasy, but what do I know? I need to ADD words to my MS, so I'm in trouble, hehe.

That's awesome. We took ours from 105K to 95K by losing a few scenes and massive tightening up. You should be proud!

Pen Name Pauline: I'm much happier with my manuscript now, yes. My story hasn't changed, but my editing the manuscript to tighten up how I expressed myself and my characters greatly improved it. I am hoping that, if an agent shows interest, they will now read it and not think, "Wow. This woman needs to learn the writing rules."
